Journeys is a behavioral health program for older adults at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs. This new program will provide support to older adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and other challenges associated with aging.

This program will take place three days per week, offering group and individual counseling, nursing education, and other services. Transportation is available for those who need assistance getting to and from the program.

Studies by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 7 million American adults over the age of 65 experience depression each year, not to mention anxiety, grief/loss, or other diagnoses. 90% of those who die by suicide had a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death, with only 42% receiving mental health services.

The program is a great opportunity for the hospital to meet the mental health needs of community members, without them having to experience the stress of leaving town.

The Journeys team will be overseen by Ravinder Goswami, M.D., Medical Director/Board Certified Psychiatrist, and will consist of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)/Counselor, a program nurse, and a certified nurse aide/van driver.

If you or someone you know would like more information on the Journeys program, please contact Jennifer McCutcheon, MSW, LCSW, at I-70 Community Hospital by calling 660-335-7423.
